People who skip breakfast have 10-15% lower metabolism
than those who eat a high carbohydrate-low protein-low
fat breakfast.
People who skip breakfast and lunch, eating only one meal
a day, have the lowest basal metabolic rates compared to
people who eat more frequently.
People who skip breakfast and/or lunch tend to have a
higher in fat diet than people who eat a balanced and
varied diet with a minimum of 3 low fat, low sugar high
fiber meals a day.
You cannot lose more than two pounds of body fat per
week.
If you have a long history of dieting or over-exercising
you may have a considerably lower than normal basal
metabolic rate. Once you begin a balanced diet you may
gain weight. Much of this weight is water, but the weight
gain can be difficult to accept if your objective is to
lose or maintain a low weight. Water weight may take
several months to lose. Maintaining this newer to the
body lowfat lifestyle will be successful if you
persevere. That requires a support system.
If you are a compulsive eater or overeater or have a long
habit of skipping lots of meals you are a candidate for a
support group and learning experiences that will teach
you new eating patterns and how to choose foods
wisely.
People who lower their set point below a genetic
predisposed level (usually by over-exercising) will
eventually have a rebound effect which is manifested by
an inability to maintain a lower body fat and body
weight. Exercising more to "solve" the problem
will make it worse. Women were meant to have certain fat
levels; they're important for menstruation, pregnancy and
lactation. When you go 5 pounds below the minimum level,
your body is going to fight back.....
